FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR WEEKEND OF ‘OLD-WORLD CHARM’ AT TOP TOURIST
ATTRACTION

Steam at the Lift 2025, the Anderton Boat Lift's Victorian
extravaganza, is returning on Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11,
between 10am and 4.30pm.

As well as the usual steam-powered traction engines, lorries, and
steamrollers, this year’s event will include an exhibit of working
miniature steam engines.

Visitors can also look forward to behind-the-scenes 'walking the lift'
tours, a real ale festival, craft beer tasting, a barbecue, licensed
bars, and activities for children, including the much-loved LEGO
man.

For the second year running, a flotilla of steamboats, both vintage
and modern, will be forming up on the River Weaver to compliment
the land-bound contraptions.

A spokesman for Canal and River Trust said: “Join us for a steam
spectacular when a fleet of magnificent traction engines meets a
flotilla of vintage steam boats under the iconic Anderton Boat Lift.

“This is a unique, family-friendly steam festival with live
demonstrations and interactive exhibits, bursting with old-world
charm.”
