If the ' stub axles ' are secured to a timber cross member , then that is called the ' axle tree ' .

If you need grey iron castings then p.m. me for a foundry who welcome ' odd ' jobs , not too far from you .

Given that Eddisons' vans were unsprung ( I think ) then it might be an idea to fit pneumatics of a sort which might have been fitted ' back in the day ' , like series land rover wheels . A cop out , but very practical .
