American engines
Hi Shaun
I have a Canadian built George White traction engine built in 1924 no 1470 of 1500 produced by George White a Devon man who emigrated to Canada in the 1770s and set up buisness in London Ontario. My engine is unusual in that it is 2 speed gearing and capable of 6 to 7 miles per hour. All the boiler work is done, new smokebox, new chimney, ashpan, boiler tubes, tenders, all new pipework, two new penberthy injectors. There is approx 7 years left on hydraulic ticket and it is working at original boiler pressure. It is particularly good on the belt as most american engines were. Not a huge hulk at 7 tons empty and approx 8.5 full of water.Needs some bushes replaced and lagging to finish but can go to rally now as i have.Living in Australia at present so the engine is in the shed doing nothing and i am lucky to have other engines so its available for sale and stored at home in Ireland.Send me a pm if interested and i can send pics.Tom
