Oh and Mr Tool - I haven't the faintest idea, other than locos were generally operated by 2 bods where as rollers were designed to be operated by a single bod, having written that, if memory serves some TEs were steered from the RHS as well. I guess no one cared. I am sure someone much cleverer than me will know the answer.
