Alan and Kathryn Whittaker the owners of said Aveling have had spend a lot more time than was initialy envisaged in getting the engine in a suitable state for rallying. On the other hand it is very much better mechanically and is a very pleasant engine drive, more so than most tiny rollers due to its heavy wheels.


Me and the two of them took our class G's on it last year, i personally think the larger wheels make it a very handsome engine along with the slopping headstock. The last bloke who owned it couldnt get on with it and in 3 years mannaged to bend the crank shaft, snap a piston rod and rot the tender out of it.

And for those who have been told that Elvaston castle openly invites and accepts any engines / owners to its events this engine is one of 3 that I know of that was refused entry. Presumebly to pay for there extensive line up of showmans engines.
