Default Radial drill - "Town & Woodhouse" - 3 ft

I bought this from a university in 2001 and until last year it was stored in a friend's farm workshop greased up and sheeted. Last year I moved it to my house with the intention of boring ouit the back wheel on my Fowler - a job I did on my Burrell on this machine back in 1998. The quill is brilliant - it bored the wheel bearings, over 10" long with less than 0.002" taper and that included a discontinuous cut due to the cast in oil grooves.

In the end I didn't use it for the Fowler as the larger wheels were slightly too big to get under the drill.

The drill needs a good clean - what appears to be 'rust' in the one photo is 95% grease and dirt from being stored. From memory there is only one mark on the box plate - otherwise it is perfect. From memory the quill has a 4 morse taper.

It has a current-injection brake fitted alrthough I don't know if this would satisty current H and E regulations - I used to find it a nuisance and always intended to take it off anyway.

It weighs around 3 1/2 tons - atleast as the teleporter I used to move it struggled to lift it.

I am offering it on here first and if nobody is interested I will advertise in Machinery Market and/or eBay.

The drill was working perfectly when I bought it but I have never used it since. It has always been kept dry and I see no reason why anything should be wrong with it now - but it is to be sold as seen.

I am open to sensible offers.PM me or call me on 07779 632490. If I had the space I would keep it but most of the work I now need to do can be done with a magbase drill.

Cheers Carl.
