The vehicle in question was built in 1967 by the late Laurie Nelson of Lugtrout Lane, Solihull, then in Warwickshire. He called it his steam buggy comprising a Merryweather steam fire pump of 1939/45 vintage adapted and built into converted London taxi chassis.It had a single cylinder engine, 5" bore x 4" stroke, boiler of a working pressure 125 psi. giving a maximum speed of 20 mph.
