Cider seemed to wash the dust out of the mouth better than anything. Bulmer's Woodpecker could be bought at local grocery stores. Sometimes we had Gaymers Cydrax as well. The meals were ALLWAYS brown bread, lashings of butter and wensleydale cheese. Remember the flagons of cider with the stone stoppers or sometimes a gallon stone jar of ginger beer.
