Aveling 10460 Steam Up
I went to sort out the trailer on sunday afternoon ready for the Marshall's final event of the season.
Look what welcomed me, the beatifull sight of Paul Woodcock's 1923 Aveling and Porter roller in steam to test a few odd jobs that had been completed. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/ttu/00006443.jpg Made the job of humping coal and tools less of a chore! |
...always have thought that roller is delightful and wonderfully restored. :p<drool></drool>

Agreed.

An engine whose restoration has not 'turned back the years' to arrive at better than showroom condition, but has preserved the history and atmosphere of a much loved vehicle in a tasteful and sympathetic way. thumbsup
I did think about trying to do a crafty swap overnight at the Mid-Shrops rally in 2007... ...and Tom Rolt, ...and Bridgemere, ...and Onslow, ...and Malpas, ...and... Unfortunately I suspected Paul might have noticed the following morning the sudden lack of bright metal, lack of paint, the appearance of a canopy he could stand under... ...oh, and the almost doubling in size/weight! [sigh] I can but dream... :p |
