Barleylands sunday evening

A few images (using Steam Scenes hosting) from Barleylands And thanks to the people who rook time out to talk to me
Included pics of flywheel and a few other details, is this a K5? A woman looking after the engine spoke to me about it, Hope I didnt hold you up to much! Apparently engine was at one time near Rempstone though not with Beeby's.
I also spoke to a gentleman looking after the Clayton so thankyou for your time.
The roller display was interesting giving the appearance of a council depot with display of rolling at dusk.

Engine John 14th September 2009 05:23 AM

Nice to see some close ups of the machinery. It makes a nice change. Others take note!

Thanks, John

The Fowler single ploughing engine is one of the ex. Collins of Inkberrow engines. Don't know what class they would be but they are 1876/1877 engines.

Was it at one time with Angrave & Burrows? As this is the firm Beeby Bros took over. Some of the engine firing irons you can still see the A & B stamp on them.

These engines would be known as ' wrought iron 8's ' , from the wrought iron box structure which supported the bearings and shafts on the top of the firebox . The previous engines were the ' new ' ones , thus the surviving singles are all rebuilds of ' new 12's ' or ' new 14's ' . The ' new ' engines replaced the ' old ' ones , which were the horizontal shaft design . Previous to these were the ' slant shaft ' engines .
