Thurlow Steam and Country Show

Thurlow Steam and Country Show

The Thurlow Steam and Country Show takes place this year on 1st & 2nd August on the Horseheath Racecourse, on the A1307 near Linton, Cambs. This year is the 30th event and is once again being run with the support of the East Anglian Traction Engine Society, who supported the event right back at the start. Over the years the event has raised a large sum of money for local charities.

Among the attractions booked to attend is a selection of steam engines of all types, as well as miniature steam, bygones, a wide range of vintage tractors, vehicles and stationary engines. Fairground organs will provide old time musical entertainment.

Appearing in the arena on both days will be the “Flying Fergies” Tractor display team. Stunts, formations, manoeuvres and a fair helping of humour performed on classic Ferguson Tractors.

Many kinds of refreshments will be available on site, as well as the beer tent of course. There will also be many trade stands, and a craft tent.

Admission is £6 for adults, £5 for OAPs and £2 for children. A family ticket (for two adults and up to three children) is £16. Car parking is free. On site camping is £20 for the weekend.

As ever, we welcome anybody who feels they may be able to help with the event, either by sponsoring and engine, advertising in the programme, or helping on site.

I have just received confirmation from our new Beer Tent supplier that the licence has been obtained for this year, so there will be no repeat of last year's cock-up!

The Beer Tent has arrived!

Several more engines now on site and ground still very good, we drove across the field with 33296 no problems. Must also award The Boot public house in Dullingham as the most engine friendly pub in Suffolk.
