Selby Steam Fair
Well this certainly exceeded expectations - what a fantastic little event!
Visited on Saturday. Similar layout to the Nostell Rally that it replaces, only the rally field at Carlton Towers is nice and flat! Got to play Steersman around the ring on our old engine - Fowler 14406 'Mtoto', formerly 'Pandora' and the Bygrave familys' Clayton 43187 'Atlantia' and thoroughly enjoyed both, so a big thanks to Keith Collins and Keith Bygrave respectively. Even Dad made an appearance on his old Triumph motorcycle! I hope this event remains on the calendar in future years as I heard many positive comments throughout the day and not one negative. I also went on Saturday and had a good day , the steam exhibits had a good parade in the nice size arena .
I noticed that there were a couple of engines parked out of sight away from the line up and can only think that there wasn't quite enough space for all of them in the designated area . For a first show I believe it went well certainly from a spectators angle . It was a nice surprise to see Little Buttercup even more so given that it was run round the arena . |
