Savage drawings
Does any one have drawings for a Savage centre engine smokebox and organ engine bracket, preferably a 5 1/2?
The folks at Kings Lynn whilst friendly don't seem to know what they've got any more... Simon. |
Hello, KL Museum did have registers of all Savage drawings including the cabinet draw number where they were stored. I have copies of the lists relating to steam tractors/Little Samson. They also had detailed lists of patterns and again I have a copy relating to Little Samson. Some while ago I tried to borrow a couple of patterns from the museum. As you found, the staff were very friendly but had no idea as to what they had in store. I had to send them a copy of the list of patterns and subsequently was told that most were stored on stillages at high level and staff were not allowed to retrieve them!

A good chunk of Savage drawings are now with the National Fairground Archive in Sheffield.
They had a large number, and Fairground Heritage Trust donated all that we had last year or the year before. I am not sure if they will have catalogued them yet. They were mostly Fairground but all a bit mixed up. Doug Roseman (models) has a good knowledge of what exists if you can get hold of him |
Doug is at https://www.fairgroundmodels.co.uk/ a very helpful chap indeed.

I tried to get some drawings and access to patterns for an electric light engine a few years ago and got nowhere with them at KL.
