Shrewsbury Steam Rally 2024

No doubt this Steam Rally has potential to get bigger and better in the coming years - Being a regular visitor to the Great Dorset Steam Fair, not once did attending Shrewsbury ever cross my mind. A wonderful turnout of Traction Engines on my visit last Sunday (92) and based on the long queue I passed upon arrival, getting my entrance ticket in advance was a very smart idea.

My photos can be found here - potential https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBF3Dp

A great rally as you say but a real pain to get in when coming from England with horrendous traffic jams.

Is that a complete new build? What a fantastic piece of equipment.

Looking at the top photo, I'd say that it's either 6" or maybe 9" scale, some years ago Les Vince from near Chelmsford built a 3" scale undertype 4wd Fowler.

6" according to the card on the rally stand . Built from a few old works photos , and perhaps a patent spec .

Ah yes, I see what you mean, a lovely thing and what model making should be. It’s up there with the Hornsby caterpillar engine,
