NEW DATE CONFIRMED FOR RAIN-DELAYED CHESTER-LE-STREET STEAM FAIR

A STEAM FAIR WHICH HAD TO BE CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN HAS BEEN
RESCHEDULED, ITS ORGANISERS HAVE CONFIRMED.

The Chester-le-Street Steam and Vintage Fair was due to be held in
July but downpours made the Lambton Park field unusable.

Organisers Glen Wardle and Andrew Borthwick said that decision had
been "bitterly disappointing" but they were "pleased" to announce the
fair was now set to be held on 21 and 22 September.

All camping passes, trade entries and visitor tickets bought for the
July event would be valid for the new one, they added.

Mr Wardle and Mr Borthwick said they had been planning to hold an
event in Lanchester on the new dates but they had decided to
"concentrate [their] efforts and resources into making
Chester-le-Street happen".

The first steam fair was held at the field in 1956 and Mr Wardle and
the organisers, who own a steam roller, brought back the event in
2019.
