The Chiltern Traction Engine Club is presenting its steam rally at Hyde End Near Great Missenden HP16 0RD, on the 1st and 2nd of July, New site 30 ish engines expected

I wish more rallies would do this, in this case it will probably lead us to attending a rally which otherwise we would miss.

In todays age “cash only” will cause issues!

Totally agreed. I believe Chickerell (if that's how it's spelled) does a similar thing. It would avoid seeing the same Traction Engines several times over. If my memory serves correct, at least three were at almost every single rally I went to last year with "Dorothy" (DV 9252) being the most reoccurring

That’s a new phenomenon, seeing a 5 horse Burrell too frequently. I didn’t think that was possible.

Don't get me wrong, she is a beautiful and popular Burrell BUT it would be a whole different scenario, if I owned her or the driver.

If you don't want to see the same traction engine every week, go to a different event, there are plenty all over the country. A lot of us put a lot of effort to get our engines to events, a lot of them the same each year because we enjoy them!!

You are right- there's still plenty HOWEVER not everyone can drive and/or own their a car, etc. I have to rely on public transport to get from A to B - from where I live, some rallies are almost impossible to get to, some would take too long or are too complex and there are some counties which I've noticed, for whatever reason(s), don't allow Uber to operate within. On the two occasions I went to Bressingham, I was lucky enough to a fellow enthusuast (and best friend for over 21 years) who was willing to drive me there for a nice day out. His work commitments have changed since. To sum up, everyone's situation is different.

Moving on, there are plenty of engines I'd love to see someday including the Yellow Showman's Engine called "Wait and See" and the late Fred Dibnah's "Firey Elias"

Rev. Teddy Boston's engine. The distinction is that Teddy was a gentleman, Fred was not.

Sorry for my error. That's interesting - I've never seen any documentary featuring Teddy in person, though but Fred yes. All I know about Teddy is the Fat Clergyman in the Railway Series Books is based off him and his connection with the now-closed Cadeby Light Railway in addition to the long-gone Steam Rally.
