Goldsmith Nov 2019
If you can tolerate a less than perfect video clip then here is a bit of action from the Lake Goldsmith Timber Mill.

A couple of stills of the engine so you can get a better look at it.
Happily running on wood. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=57607 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=57608 |
I was wondering about the Aveling Traction engine?
I never see a compound piston valve like this? anyone has more info? |

Im gathering the impression that our fellow enthusiasts down under and in NZ, don't really subscribe to the little traction engine side of life! They are nearly all big buggers and lovely to see. thank you

Looks like they had a bit of a bad do with the steam shovel this weekend to. |
I believe a casting broke on one of the outriggers robbing the machine of support on that side.
The operator managed to slew the bucket around and catch it so it didn't go fully over. Fortunately know one seriously hurt but perhaps a few un expected dry cleaning bills. The show went on as normal but it did look a bit sad reclining at about 45 deg stead of standing up. No doubt they will have it back as it should be fairly smartly. |

Tis a long way between drinks around here and you need a decent amount of fuel as well. |

In fact it is one of the first machines to come to Goldsmith 114 Rallies ago. It started out with a front axle and wheels off a clayton wagon that was in the scrap under a tree. When someone decided to restore the clayton he gave the bits back and someone found him some more. Not sure what they are from. Likely has been like this longer than it was a roller and I can't remember it missing a rally. Affectionately known as Tiny it used to be used for a "Tug of War" with any children who felt inclined to have a go. Alas such things are no longer permitted. :( |
