Banks Steam and Agricultural Rally

The Banks Steam and Agricultural Rally still went ahed despite the poor weather preceeding it.

A number of engines gathered in a well known yard in Banks before the event, and 4 engines were to be found steaming up on the Saturday morning.

Mark Jones had brought up his K7 plougher 'Linkey' from the midlands via Mike Preistners whos BB1 was also present.

Saturday morning was overcast, but dry and one by one the engines made their way to the show field to join Robert Abrams Fowler 'Winsor' already on the field.

<O:pDespite the slippy ground the three ploughers gave a demonstration of ploughing, the AA and the BB1 ploughing and the K7 cultivating with the assistance of a modern tractor.

Despite the wet ground, a number of visitors came along, they all seemed to have a fun time.

I would like to offer my thanks to the organisers for putting on the show. Also to the Johnson family for the bed, food, and an engine to look after. </SPAN>

A very enjoyable do. We trecked across the pennines on Sunday morning (250 mile round trip) I couldnt beleive what the ground was like though. Fair play to all involved for still managing a bit of ploughing. Windsor sounded to be working hard on the first pull of the morning.
The bacon sandwiches weren't bad either and my mother in law commented that it was probably one of the best and hottest cups of tea she had bought at a rally.High praise indeed.
I have just washed the mud off the car tonight. Its amazing where it gets. At least we didnt need a push though.

I was advised many years ago that if you needed to put the spuds on then you should put them ALL on - if you only put on a few the chances were that you would still get stuck. Makes sense as you want at least one to be in the ground whilst the next one comes around - I know it is a lot of work with eleven a side on a BB1 but I have not got stuck either...

James, we did have them all on ;)
