Nipper or Premier range cooker
 

Good day,
I am on the look out for a small range cooker for the Aveling van. Do like the little nippers any know of one for sale? Ideally in resonable order but anything considered.

Ryan , unless you are reckoning on catering , most stoves are too big for a living van , and will cook the residents . Take a good google through stoves for narrowboats , and tiny stoves for narrowboats . You will need a good roof vent , and ventilation at floor level . Then Ebay .

Doric might be a bit big Adam the Ranger looks about the right size however. I'm also considering an Epping just have a thing for the nippers.

Bob i'm always reckoning on catering haha. Can't think of anything nicer than baking (burning) cakes at a wet rally. I've had a long look on google & thats why i'd like a nipper- they really are tiny. The van has good roof vents so i'm not too worried about being cooked myself.

So you will be burning tiny cakes then . You need floor vents to let in fresh air for combustion , and to give a drain for CO and CO2 , which are both heavier than air .

Nipper No.6
 

The Nipper No.6 was the standard fitting for Eddison living vans in their later years, and they were certainly available until the early 1970's. The Premier stove was a clone manufactured for the narrow boat market, and were available new until recently, so you might want to try the canal world.

These small stoves would deteriorate quickly if not regularly used, since sulphuric acid in the combustion products produces corrosion between the cast components, the resulting rust causing the cast iron to crack.

I rescued a ec Salop County Council Bomford and Evershed living van out of a wood about 2 or 3 years ago. It was a late one on blow ups. But the makers plate was made out of Mazak.

There was no stove in it, but when I asked I was taken to the estate stores where the stove had been removed to.

It was a Nipper, in excellent condition, but in a very fetching shade of shitty yellow enamel.

Try Olly at Osborne restorations, he has a nipper in his catalogue, I believe he may be making reproductions of the Hostess range.

Speak to Bridport foundry, if my memory serves me right I think they produce castings for " A traditional" type living van stove.
I have not actually seen these in person but they may or may not be the type of thing you are after. Non the less worth a enquiry I am sure.

Sorted now I think- thank you for the many replies. Not a Nipper but a period British stove of about the same size.
