Steam Live Day Auckland New Zealand

Hi all, Motat in Auckland New Zealand is holding a steam focus live day on the 16th July 2017.

So far confirmed to be in steam are

- 4 full size traction engines
- 4 3rd size traction engines (4"scale)
- Steam Roller
- 3 Steam Railway Locomotives
- Steam Tram
- 2 Portable steam engines
- Boiler house
- Beam Engine
There will also be other steam engines not normally on show to see that will not be in steam but can be viewed
Its looking like the biggest Live Steam Event Motat has had to date, if it is popular then it will get bigger next year. Please Share

Hi Martyn, Is anything happening with the Mclaren compound traction? Last time I saw it it was parked out the front with a gassed hole cut in the RH horn plate.

Thanks for your post, bit short notice for us Brits to get there though!

Regards,

Mike.

Sorry to say that nothing anytime soon will be done to the big mac at Motat. Its also had both tube plates removed and 1st and 3rd gears are shot. Unfortunately for it when some well meaning volunteers in the past plumped up shed steam to its engine unit to make it more interesting its sealed its fate to be a fake live exhibit. Shame cause it would be a lovely engine properly restored.
