Not sure how old this lathe is but seeing it’s a flat belt drive it is probably from the early 1900
The drive from the motor to the chuck is by a B.S.A. motor bike gearbox driving a flat belt which gives four speeds and a neutral (one up and three down on the leaver) the lathe has a back gear giving eight speeds in total The gear box itself is worth good money to an B.S.A. bike restorer.

I bought this lathe from a fellow model engineer about 15 years ago. And between us and a mate that used it to build his engine it has been instrumental in the building of three 4” scale traction engines and parts for two 6” scale traction engines plus many other projects.
