Forncett Steam Museum on Steam-It Sunday
Happily for us, the NTET chose our Model Engineers' Day for Steam-It Sunday, so we did our bit with a road run to the Norfolk Tank Museum for miniatures and some 'grown ups'.
Regular museum visitor 'Margaret', an A&P GND tractor lead the way. (Note the red flag in the background - to warn oncoming horses.) http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34302 A 3ins version of the popular 1 ins 'Minnie' described in Model Engineer in 1970. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34303 Margaret is not used to going so slowly. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34304 Nor is this Stanley steam car, top speed 85 mph! http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34296 This four seater Stanley is equally magnificent. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34297 Heavy traffic in the museum yard. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34295 A 6 ins Garrett compound, all the way from Southminster in Essex. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34294 Encouraging the next generation, with a 4 ins Foster. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34293 A smart 4 ins Burrell and the lorry again. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34292 The 6 ins Burrell in a sylvan setting in the museum grounds. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34291 A surprise visitor. 'Duke of York', a B6 Fowler crane engine on an assessment run before overhaul of the top works by local specialist Steve Barraclough. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34305 Margaret seemed big until the Duke of York turned up. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=34306 Thanks to everyone who turned out to make this a memorable day. Looks like a brilliant day Bill! I was hoping to make but sadly had to spend my Sunday writing lesson plans, I know where I would rather have been!
