My 30th birthday steam party.

As most of the Shropshire based engine owners will know, I turned 30 on Saturday. So I decided to mark the occasion with a steam party. We all met up at my shed, and then went off to the "Black Horse" for some lunch and refreshment. We casually trundled back and in the evening, had dinner in the shed. The weather was kind to us, only raining after we'd all got in the shed.

Engines were

A&P traction engine 2436.
A&P roller 8290
A&P roller 9264 Lady Hesketh.
A&P tractor 11839 Oberon.
Burrell traction engine 2512 General C R Dewet.
Burrell tractor 2876 Little Samson.
Marshall tractor 68754 Mascot
Marshall tractor 78953 Moonraker
Sentinel 8571.
Stanley steam car.

We also had a fergie, Fordson major, unimog, Ford 5000 and 2 Fordson Standards, (one of which is mine, that has just returned to active service after a 7 year absence)

Here are a few general photos. I was rather busy I'm afraid. I'm sure other people will post some more. (Benny Boy took lots.)

I'd like to say a big thank you to all those who brought engines. It was a great turn out. To the "Black Horse" for putting on a brilliant spread for us. Also thanks to Tudor Jones, the farmer who owns my shed for allowing me to hold it there and for the use of the field. Thanks to my parents, for all of their help in getting my shed in a fit state. Thanks to the people I borrowed stuff off, bales, chairs, urn etc, you know who you are. Thanks to everybody who came, crewed engines, and made it such a great day. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. I certainly did.

And finally I need to say a massive thank you to my amazing wife Catherine, for making, cooking and serving out all of the food, (with the help of our mothers). I think everybody will agree that it was great feed!

What a great way to spend a birthday.

Thanks for the invite, the three of us had a fabulous time. Well worth the run over.

Nerys now likes chips with her curry, and gammon butties!. Top marks for the chefs thumbsup

Sorry, no pics from me as I bust my phone on thursday evening.

Parties like this could well be the death knell for rallies they are so much fun.

Glad we could join in. Had a fantastic weekend.

Jacob & Laura spent Monday telling everyone about it - even though they didn't finish cutting the grass!

I don't think I will have recovered from this year's by then! Also, Catherine would probably divorce me if I even asked her.

Give it a few, and I'll see what I can do.

Here is an excellent bit of video, which captures the atmosphere far better than my pictures.

Thanks to Mike and Steve Llewelyn for this. It's a great reminder of the day, apart from the awful picture at the beginning! (I hope you don't mind me putting this up.)
