Pump for Aveling GND
Hi all, a friend is after a boiler feed pump for 1914 Aveling GND. Any ideas on where to source one? Thank you

Hello James,
Go to page two on the patterns section. At the bottom there is a pattern which is owned by " Onward". |
Thank you William, Feed Pump 31043? I think this may be showing my ignorance in full, but what would I do with a pattern? Is it a design?
Many thanks, James |
Oh , Dear , a pattern is what you use to form the mould for a casting .
The principle is that you make the shape of the thing in wood , then use that to make a mould by putting it into a box and ramming a mixture of sand and binders around it . You then split the mould , remove the pattern and reassemble the mould . You then pour the molten metal into the space in the mould . When it has cooled you extract the cast object from the mould , and machine it to make what you want . For good pictures of patterns and castings look at Little Samson's posts . |
But that pattern is for boiler mounted pumps.
GND tractors have the pump mounted on the left hornplate, below the steering wheel with reduction gear drive from the crank. |
