Southport / Blackpool

We will be going up to the Southport and Blackpool areas at the end of next week. Can anyone tell me if there are any steam events or steam museums in the area which will be open. Thanks

There's the British commercial vehicle museum at Leyland, there's a few engines in there

I visited there earlier this year. The lighting is very poor. However the curators are very friendly and co-operative. Well worth a visit. Steam includes Foden 10788, Tate & Lyle, Fowler conversion 10318 "Sunny Boy 2", Leyland wagon No. unknown, Thornycroft No. 1, & Shand Mason "Fulwood" of 1898

Anthony - not steam, but do not miss the wonderful work that Brian Lindop is doing at Blackpool Transport re-creating the heritage tramway.
