Don't turn your nose up at a piston valve . Their defects can be remedied .

There's a couple in Old Glory this month, one looks well sorted for 30k.

Check out Berrybrook Steam as they have the rather nice A & P that featured in the Old Glory marquee at Dorset this year. Still in its working clothes and all ticketed ready to go and has loads of history and a collection of photos in its working days.
