Gutted that I couldn't attend this year. Agree that it's one of the best venue's there is for photography, especially when the sun is shining.

Did you get any of Turners Garret aka Little Jimmy when in Coles ownership in working life? I did not see it moving but you can't be everywere at Beamish, super event. I think it went up the hill neqr the mine area as I was walking throught the trees but couldt be certain. I wish it could be redone as Little Jimmy again and parked next to Little Billy once more. Superb event with as usual a fantastic cross section of vintage equipment on show .
This year as added to last years event and then some , in particular the steam shovel working on the narrow gauge line was a first for me , really intersting . This place makes my camera sound like an empty gatlin gun . The problem I have is that seven hours in the day is just not enough for what's to see , I need to look into an overnight stay up there . Well done to all at Beamish that made this possible thumbsup Dave |

Good job you didn't wait until today David, not very conducive to photography...

A few snaps from my phone, taken on Saturday. Not great quality but maybe they add something to the thread.
Firstly the Mann, tucked away in a corner: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8773/1...fbe9cb90_b.jpg What appears to be the remains of a centre engine alongside the railway in the colliery area: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8748/1...2d81e86d_b.jpg The centre engine in the gallopers: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8703/1...b8676c15_b.jpg And finally: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8788/1...f1bcb511_b.jpg Incidentally, this was the first time I had seen an organ engine actually driving an organ. Good to see. |
A few more to be found on the National Traction Engine Trust website thanks to Paul Cook.

Never been to Beamish but always wanted to, looks a fantastic period setting. Has it got a good pub like the Black Country Museum has? I presume so. I was reminded what an atmospheric place this was recently, & the whole museum of course, one of my favorite pubs though I could hardly be called a regular as last in there in 86 or so when the last steam event of those days was on. Anyway, well done to Beamish!

Just returned home after a fantastic event, pity about the rain on Sunday but at least it managed to slake the dust of the previous 3 days. It was great to see the exhibits in a fantastic period setting along with a record attendance from the public. Thanks to Beamish for the invitation for the Marshall & trailer, thanks also to the small team of staff for the organisation both before and during the event.
