Hollycombe Festival of Steam 2008

Hollycombe Festival of Steam will be over the weekend of July 5th and 6th.

Full details, including a list of the visiting engines expected are on the Hollycombe web site ( http://www.hollycombe.co.uk/ ) under Festival of Steam.

Don't know what I will be on this year yet, but I will be there both days (don't let that put you off) - that is unless by boy wins the raffle at his school this week as it is for 4 tickets to the Grand Prix at Silverstone and he would probably take me down the tip if I did not take him :)

Not much I can add having seen The President in the flesh, shame my pics won't do it justice as they left before the sun decided to make an appearance, roll on GDSF.

The sun did come out later actually.

Went down yesterday before moving on to Dial Post. Nice to see both ploughers in steam and working the cultivator. The President looks stunning as has been stated elsewhere. The Wallis needs a bit of work, but so do a lot of things on the site.

Great pic of The President, it makes Duke of Kent almost look like a miniature!

You're a lucky so and so, I wish the sun was like that when I was there ;)

David.

Luck's got nothing to do with it David! Careful planning, and local knowledge of weather systems all plays a part.:D 2 rallies on the same day made it a bit hectic though.
The President pic is a bit deceiving. the difference has been accentuated by the positioning of the engines. Duke of Kent was well back. Her front wheels were lined up with the rear wheels of The President. Crafty eh?
