Sunderland Steam "Spectacular"

Whilst I might not agree with the term "spectacular", it was good to see crowds flocking to Herrington country park today to see 10 engines and a variety of other exhibits including some rather nice miniatures at a new event in the North East (discounting the 2 rallies here in 2006 and 7). A few observations - no programme, and lots of punters referring to those "trains" on display (not helped in my mind by no working displays either). I know this was a commercial rally, but are we missing a trick somewhere? Kathryn admitted to me that she had no idea what a traction engine was before she met me...

Very pudding like ground, but just after 12.30, a parade was attempted - all in the shadow of the spectacular Penshaw Monument.
