Threshing set wheels replacement or repairer.

Wanted set of suitable wheels for a william foster drum. Currently fitted with wooden wheels which have rotted out and either need repairing or replacing with another set. I have some patterns rims and hubs. Any suggestions welcomed! Thank you.

I still am looking for a set of foster wooden wheels, or at least the cast hubs for an early drum 1880's please anyone,

jack, I could build you a new set but they don't come cheap.... you'd be better going for irons... unless you specifically want timber wheels, dry oak in 6" thickness isn't cheap......

Adam , what would a set of wooden wheels cost for a portable say, or a drum? Not related to this, but i've always wondered. You can PM me if you like.

depends on thickness of the rim and what you want them made in, when I did mine I used top quality air dry oak then kilned it, decent ash is hard to come by and if damp or muddy it just rots or shrinks..... at least with the oak its dry and stable (I specially selected it.... but if I had to buy the timber at commercial rates, joinery grade oak in 6" thickness to make the fellies would be around 900/ wheel kilned, I recon I could make a wheel in 3 days, dependant on the spokes, I borrowed a mates copy lathe for mine.... but still had to saw blanks out.
I know a man who had a marshall drum re wheeled in timber at a reasonably decent wheelwrights in dorset and it was over £1500/ wheel....
not many wheelwrights like doing heavy wheels, they much prefer the lighter carriage stuff.
i'd do m own wheels but tbh I've enough on with 2 waterwheels and an oak garden room to finish by next week but if some one was stuck..... and was prepared to wait....

Thanks Adam, thats about what I thought, if you want something good & authentic you've got to pay for it, 7 you're not going to buy them off the shelf in a supermarket!
An oak garden room?? Mrs Black Jim would like one of those!
Do you have any trouble with getting long & non standard timber now?
