Am after one of these if anyone knows of a pattern or casting? Ours is buggered. Any help would be great.

Perhaps you could buy a big tin of easy-sand filler and make your own pattern out of the old one , and cast in whatever alloy iron your boiler inspector approves . I think that would be the cheapest option . Fabrication would be possible , but you would have to roll a length of plate to get the radius . You could possibly then use bits of the same rolled plate , with a bit of adjustment by pressing , to make the pad , and then machine the top flat and weld a sleeve in to keep the space between the plates dry . Whatever your inspector approves .

A neighbour of mine found that one of his three Aveling pump studs was loose . He unscrewed it by hand , and it came out after three turns . Looking down the hole he saw the broken off tap which had been in there since 1923 .

whats actually wrong with it (apart from being damaged from blowing out the rivets)?

Hi, other than that is too wasted In places. In it's working g life it must have leaked quite bad as it was completely welded all the way round onto the barrel. The underside isn't pretty.....

would be interesting to see a pic of the underside.

As mentioned above, i would think a fabrication would be your best bet - if you are replacing the barrell / smokebox as one, would the lump cut out of the top of the smokebox at the chimney base be big enough for the flange? That would save additional expense of additional certified boiler plate!
