Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge, Saltash - Revisited

I still have some copies left of this book for sale.

The book gives the details of the construction and history of this famous landmark which crosses the River Tamar between devon and Cornwall.

The book is a paperback in A5 format and is perfect bound and is 72 pages long with glossy colour covers and is illustrated by means of over 40 photographs and line drawings. The bridge was the first one to be built in the world with a deep water pier which was constructed inside a caisson. In fact, the Engineer of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York came over to England to view the structure. The content of a paper presented to the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1862 by Robert Pearson Brereton who was Brunel's Assistant. In fact, Brereton was responsible for completing Brunel's current projects after Brunel's death in September 1859.

The book's chapter headings are:

Introduction - Brunel the Engineer - Crossing the Tamar - Construction, The Centre Pier - Construction, The Bridge - Floating & Raising the Trusses - The Opening Ceremony - The Bridge 1859 to 2009 - Signalling the Bridge - The Bridge Builders - Tales of the Bridge - Viewing the Bridge - Epilogue - Bibliography - Acknowledgements.

I have some 50 copies of the book left as a result of a mess up by a certain magazine as they were supposed to do a tie up between a article which I wrote for them and the book. In effect they cocked the whole thing up and I no longer contribute to them.

The cover price on the book is £5.99 plus £1.45 postage and packing. However, I am prepared to sell it for £5.99 post free and they are sent by First Class Post.

I can give a discount for multiple orders to the same address and I can give a generous discount to clubs and societies who may wish to purchase copies for their sales stands.

Payment may be made by cheque or postal order by either sending me a PM for my home address or by emailing me. Otherwise, my preferred method of payment is by PayPal.

Orders can be placed direct to me by emailing me at tnbowden@yahoo.co.uk

I need to sell these books as the revenue from them will be used towards the cost of producing my forthcoming book about Tritandem Road Rollers which will be published during 2014.

Me and my big mouth.

Dear Brian Gooding,
Firstly, it slipped my mind that Vintage Spirit had changed hands and I would like to categorically state that the error occurred during it's previous ownership.

I would like to offer a public apology to the new owner of Vintage Spirit, Brian Gooding for any embarrassment caused. I should have been more careful with my comments and these were certainly unwelcome especially at this time.

Yours sincerely,
Thomas Bowden.
