Thanks for these David. Good to see Margaret and Alan Sparkes's Rusty also Charlie D and the Mac representing Somerset and Cornwall respectively!

Was 'the Chief' still no good with those quad track tyres on then? Trouble with ploughers is they tend to go sideways.
|
looking at the pictures it looks like the ground was so soft the engine was chewing the top soil up and being on a gradient made it a loosing battle. I would think spuds would have done the job as they would cut into the ground but obviously that is not possible with quad tracs fitted.

If you put spuds on ,you have to put as many as you have on , 8or ten per wheel.

Parts of the site were fairly steep, so although it wasn't VERY soft generally those without spuds had to have assistance from various crawlers and tractors. Those with spuds generally seemed to have worked more effectively.
Some of my pics are attached below & I have a couple of you-tube video clips @ Aethelflaed in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EvPEmP0_qA Fowler 2267 in action - good fowler bark! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLaNWhe911A http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=13217 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=13222 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=13219 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=13221 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=13218 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=13220 Ian |
