GDSF 2013 - Wednesday
First day of the show. I think GDSF has got's old spark back after a couple of quiet years. The roller display is something else, it has to be seen to be believed. I don't know the numbers of engines involved but it must be well in excess of the figures being quoted prior to the event. Those involved in putting it together deserve a very big pat on the back.
A very small selection of pictures from around the site. Some of the special roller display: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...4-DSC_2976.jpg Mike Dreelan's enormous convertible A&P: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...6-DSC_2875.jpg Just love this diesel Marshall which has shown up: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...0-DSC_3022.jpg Repatriated Sentinel in the NTET tent: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...6-DSC_3131.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...8-DSC_3211.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...9-DSC_3307.jpg The big load coming into the site at lunchtime: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...2-DSC_3361.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...5-DSC_3367.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...3-DSC_3387.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...2-DSC_3408.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...8-DSC_3429.jpg I was invited onto the footplate of Dolphin, they tell me it takes a week to clean it before they get to the show, amazing work: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...5-DSC_3487.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...4-DSC_3897.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...3-DSC_4155.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...7-DSC_4348.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...9-DSC_4419.jpg Count the rollers! http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...7-DSC_4220.jpg I took many more but I don't feel I saw half of what is there, I've not even been to the top of the haulage area or in the woodsawing/threshing area. I've had to come home tonight to bring children back as they start school in the morning (!), I will be back at the show bright and early in the morning. Don't miss it! |
