Yesterday's Farming (Somerset)
A great working event, with plenty of tractors, working fields, demonstrations and rural crafts.
Not a large steam presence but interesting all the same and a lovely unexpected surprise to see Wallis and Steevens Expansion Engine No.7411 in the flesh. Pride of Somerset can probably tell us more about it, but it has been laid up for about 20 years, but looks absolutely fantastic and it sounds like there are plans to bring her back to steam as well. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0734.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0735.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0733.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0737.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0738.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0740.jpg And this year also saw steam ploughing (well cultivating anyway) for the first time http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0736.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/290_0739.jpg |
