Aveling feed pump
I am in the (sloooow) process of rebuilding an Aveling (9212) from a mixed collection of bits. You can laugh at my efforts on our website www.essexsteam.co.uk
The boiler is now close to reassembly and the pump needs reassembling. It is a R10 pump (2 chambers) and I need some drawings/sketches/photos or whatever as the internals are all missing. I am now stuck as I can't refit the front tubeplate without fitting the pump, as I would like to fit the carrot bolts and pump while I can still access the inside of the barrel. If anyone can help with any info I will be very grateful John M |

It is possible to fit the carrot bolts that hold the pump on when the tube plate is fitted as this is what I did when I boxed my A & P roller. Sorry I cant help with the pump. |
James C might be able to help you - he has machined a number of Aveling pumps and produces a series of new A & P parts including clacks, safety valves, tender valves etc. - any brasswork. Send him a PM and I will tell him when I see him next.

I have the all patterns for a complete R10 pump. PM me if these are of any help.

While on the subject of A&P pumps, does anyone have one for an early R10 that has the eccentric rod on the flywheel side?

<Steve> Thanks for your comment - I can now see that refitting the pump is possible with the tubeplate fitted.
<Michele> I will try to PM James C <Douglas> Thanks - have PMd you Anyone got engineering drawings or just some photos of a disassembled pump? If so please PM for email address John |
We will soon be in the same situation as John with our Aveling 2760 after the pump has been weld repaired as another question there is over an1/8" clearance between the neck ring and plunger and 1/4" between body and plunger how tight should this actually be is this why A&P pumps are not rated
Thanks for your help Mike |
