Chipping Steam Fair

I arrived at the Chipping steam fair, near Preston, at a bout 15.00 hours on Monday last. It was pouring with rain, so everything had closed up and I had a rare fight along the country roads against all the departing traffic!

I got on to the site eventually which was sodden, such a shame for those exhibiting and of course the vistors.

Anyway In my haste to scribble down what engines were present, there were 11 in total, I wrote down Burrell 4092, which doesn't exist!! I cannot find what it may have been from the Register, and was unable to obtain a programme. Has anyone any idea what it was I saw

It was the only burrell there. I have a listof all the other engines present if anyone wants me to post it.

hope someone can help

Regards

hi,

Strange though it may seem, I believe that what you saw was a miniature of 4092 Simplicity, as it was in road locomotive form.
However as it was probably David Evenson's 9" scale model, which is actually bigger than a Gold medal tractor, could easily be mistaken for an original engine.

I knew that two were under construction but had no idea one was finished, well impressive and I want one!

Look forward to seeing it in the flesh somewhere?

It was an impressive engine. First outing I believe.
They had a little trouble with a bearing running hot on Saturday night, but it was all sorted Sunday morning.

Our Burrell Gold Medal Tractor no 3808 had been there and had left site at 14.30 to steam 9 miles home as the field was empty of visitors and most exhibitors were going home due to the bad weather following two glorious days of sunshine. The engine you refer to is a 9 inch scale miniture of Simplicity in road loco form, it weighs 8 tonnes and is very similar in size and weight to my GMT.

I came across the 9" Burrell at Cullingworth earlier this month , it looked big on the back of a flat bed lorry though I did not see it running .
Looks impressive .

For some reason, I cannot see the photos of the 9'' Burrell miniature? unless I am missing something?
