Sussex Steam Engine Club celebrate 20 years!

This Weekend, the Sussex Steam Engine Club held a 20th Birthday Weekend Event at Goddards Green. It was a great weekend with friends, steam engines, good food, and most importantly sun!!! I had a great time, and want to take time to thank Dave, Stuart and everyone else who help put it on! All of the 25 odd Engines came under there own steam, and its save to say everyone had a good time! Now to look foward to another 20 years, Steam in Sussex is well and truly alive!

On Saturday Evening, Burrell 3786 Tiger made a late night run back to Brighton from Goddards Green. They went up Clayton Hill, which is a very steep long climb over the South Downs, I followed them to the A27 just outside Brighton, I took a video of them climbing Clayton Hill! Turn the volume up!

Sounds great, very atmospheric in the dark!
Here is a little video edited using clips from the road run on Sunday:

Good clip. Does anyone know the gradient of Clayton Hill?

I would like to add my thanks to all the commitee who helped to organise this event, it was fantastic.
I could only make it on the sunday for the roadrun but my children and I had a great day. Thanks again:D

Not sure but I used to regularly drive tractors up and down it, you soon went down the gears with 85bhp :o

What gear was the Burrell in?

That sounds like 3rd gear to me kevin. if you go really fast over Clayton hill with a gold medal this amazing trick that puts the fire out at the front of the firebox! Oops
