Steam Plough Club AGM - 13 April 2013
Steam Plough Club AGM
The Steam Plough Club had a great outing to the new Israel Newton premesis over the weekend. A most impressive facility, we were treated to a demonstration of a tube plate being pressed and there was so much to look at. There were 5 engines in steam who went on a run in the afternoon which took in the fearsome hill in the centre of Cromford. Fowler BB1 15441 was strategically parked so none of us missed the entrance: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...4-DSC_0530.jpg The newly imported Ruthemeyer steam roller was a real treat, unusual name but much of the design is similar to SCC Burrell rollers (from whom I understand they licensed the design): http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...5-DSC_0594.jpg Ruston Hornsby 115100 was stone crushing for a change in the yard: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...5-DSC_0535.jpg A selection of photographs of the yard: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...8-DSC_0541.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...0-DSC_0705.jpg The tube plate cooling in the press: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...1-DSC_0693.jpg Fowler 2528 heading out of the yard: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...4-DSC_0734.jpg Fowler 2528 & 15441 heading towards Cromford on the road: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...5-DSC_0785.jpg The engines on a water stop prior to climbing Cromford Hill: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...0-DSC_0834.jpg http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...0-DSC_0852.jpg Standing outside Wirksworth Town Hall where the meeting was held was Fowler 14805: http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/13...2-DSC_0866.jpg Thanks to everybody involved with organising the day. |

A further selection of pictures taken at this event are now on Steam Scenes:
http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/events...ough-club-agm/ Plus a few other events that I have been to this year. I am going to get back into the habit of putting all my event pics onto Steam Scenes. I've been working back through all my 11/12 pics and these will be online as time allows. |
Tubeplate pressing
7 Attachment(s)
Here are a sequence of shots showing the tubeplate being pressed. Perhaps David can turn them on their side - I've tried but it's defeated me.
Also the squeeze riveter and a cross section from an old engineering text book showing the guts and how it works via a simple spool valve. |
