Hi all,me and my young family are going to book in to the Dorset steam fair and are new to the fair and were wondering were the best place to camp, regards tony

It depends on what suits you.
The problem is that the nearer you are the noisier it will be, the farther away, it is very tiring especially if you need to do it several times a Day . I have stayed all over the site from behind the Showman's line up to overlooking Tarrent Hinton. The best place for me was with the tractor exhibitors, just over the Crown of the Hill behind the Autojumble. |
Hi I have a 7and 9 year old so don't want to be to far away ,we have been for the day and was awsome I love steam and a long time ago I was really lucky to drive an aveling, and a Marshall traction engine, so somewhere nearer the action for me

Last Years Site Map is HERE, layout is likely to be similar but there is usually some variation due to crop rotation.
It will also depend on when you arrive. |
hi we are planing to camp most of week as dont want to rush around, thanks will have a good look at map
|
if you are going as 'public', then you will be in the public camping. Get there early (few days/weekend before) if you want to be at the end of the field near the show.

With my dodgy knees I find it an excellent way of getting around the site, especially if wanting to go from one end to another. And when you pre-book your shuttle tickets before the show they are discounted. Best wishes, Stef. |

i never stopped on site unless with engine , we stay at Sixpenny Handly about 10 miles towards Salisbury from rally , good sight and clean showers and a peaceful nights sleep with no hassle.
