Hastings seafront - Boxing day steam up 2012

Not being one for sitting in front of the telly, Dave is planning to steam his 4.5" Burrell on Boxing day on Hastings seafront along with a few friends.

Plan is to park in the car park under the cliffs @ Rock-A-Nore Parade which is at the end of a dead end road.
Then to steam along the lovely coastal footpath / promenade past Hastings pier, along the Grand parade towards West St Leonards. - None of this will be on the road, footpaths only.

This journey is about 3 miles and then back to the car park another 3 miles.

He warmly welcomes one and all to either participate or spectate, all engine welcome.

Hastings seafront on Boxing day should be lovely and quiet and a good opportunity to blow out those cobwebs and work off the Christmas turkey.

Meeting will be on BOXING DAY from 11am WEATHER PERMITTING.
Rock-A-Nore Rd, Hastings, East Sussex TN34, UK

Would be great to see you - All Welcome

Unfortunately the forecast is looking VERY bleak tomorrow @ midday.
I would say bring a brolly but I think a boat would be a better idea.

Nick, sounds like a great idea, I hope to come along for a bit. I've often thought about driving along the prom. Do the council object? I reckon the cyclists and mobility scooters present more danger to pedestrians! I would like to have joined in with my engine, but I saw this post too late to get organised.

Fingers crossed for good weather, looks okay so far.

Well Dave reports a washout and a bout of flu.
Chucking it down here as well so that was another washout.

Dave spoke to the council and they didn't have any objections but then again they didn't offer any help either.

The next opportunity would be new years day / eve, I'll have to speak to Dave to see if he has a preference as I might be working.

I can't believe what a terrible year we have had for events with the weather this year.

What a shame ! and yes it's been an awful year for steaming and why do I get the gut feeling that 2013 will be a dry and hot year with a water ban in force and we'll be steaming our engines on Lemonade !. :D

Hope you all had a great Christmas regardless of the weather !.

Cheers

I spent last week walking around my estate putting election manifestos through letterboxes and I resembled a drowned rat when I got home. One couple told me that I was barking mad but I would get their vote as they believed that I deserved it!

As it was, the turnout on last Friday was very low, only 9.9% and I won the election by 33 votes!

I will have to see if I can use my new found powers to order a dry summer next year!

May I wish a Happy New Year to you my friend.
