Wanted - Nut and tail for Fowler roller lifter and rear pocket
 

I've been meaning to get a nut and tail for the water lifter (see attached pics) for a while now. Its not really been that important as we always carry a petrol pump for transfering and lifting water but it would be nice to get something sorted.

I'm not sure if its a fowler specfic thread or where I would get one from?

I'm sure I could knock up a suitable tail on the lathe but I'm not confident enough to do the nut.

The other thing is a rear water pocket. I do have pictures and dimensions but I thought i would ask if anyone has the one i need laying about? Or I could borrow to get one cast rather than spend time fabbing one up. The quick fix with the piece of tube I made isnt the most asthetic!! but it worked well for directly connecting the 2" hose from the IBC :)
Its just a tapered square style that fits on the back with a rectangular flange about 6" x 4" i guess.

There is a particular name for the thread form, and it still is availible in larger sizes, that is for pipe of 3inch and above, but no longer availible in the smaller sizes.

Given that your lifter has the suction nipple threaded in the body of the iron casting, I would be tempted to see if it will unscrew, the thread in the body of the casting is likely to be BSP. You can then fit a totally BSP hex nipple and will then be able to buy a BSP tail and nut off the shelf for buttons

Another option if the existing nipple will not unscrew would be to cut off the course thread, open out as much as you dare and internally thread what is left and make buy a male/male nipple to suit, this may restrict the flow a little bit, but I bet you would hardly notice.

I hadnt even noticed it screwed out! I'll have to take a look when I get chance then I can take advantage of S&B's hose offer.

It is worth commenting that black rubber internally wire bound suction hose is widely availible and a fraction of the cost of the 'heritage' products.

It also doesn't scratch the paint where say the hose is carried on the side of the belly tank. I guess your hose sits on the rear canopy Irons? If so an externally wire bound one won't be a problem for your paintwork.

Iain , If you are after the classic Fowler cast lifter pocket , are you sure that David Ragsdale does not have a pattern ? Mine is ' off ' at the moment , but not for much longer . I have a copy of the drawing for the cast pocket .

I'm sure I asked David as he only lives 15 miles away. My dads popping over next week for something else so I will get him to check again.

The bracket sits on the greedy boards so I guess may scratch a bit, although I may move it to the running board but with no belly tanks it would not clash with anything.

Have to say I prefer the external wired stuff for looks. I'll have a word with Colin like Dan suggested.
