Lamp wicks
Hi all,
Pleasant Point railway has a huge collection of lamps that I've begun to drag out of the cobwebs to tidy up. However many of the wee fuel tanks have been left with whatever was being burnt in them, which has knackered the wicks in most of them. I was wondering if anyone could name a supplier and possibly quote for one or two hundred wicks? I can send photos to another TT'er to post if they PM me. These lamps are mostly shunter's and guard's lamps, and also have curved pieces of red and blue-green glass, but some are broken, I was wondering if any railway ones on here have experience with something similar? PM me for extra info. Ashley |

Google Hetherington Lamps. Roger will be able to assist. |
I still haven't heard a reply from Heatherington lamps, are there any others I might be able to contact?

Ashley,
Go on to US eBay. There are a large number of lamp supplies. You can buy wick by the roll to cut accordingly. John |
Ashley,
Not so sure about in New Zealand, but over here wick is very simple to get, as John noted also in the US. You can buy imperial wick by the roll at either of these suppliers. I use them for restoring Duplex table lamps. www.johnmoncrieff.co.uk http://oldflames-lamparts.co.uk As for the glass, Roger Mills of the Hetherington Lamp Company can get 'custom' glass, I expect sourced in the UK, I've never dealt with him via e-mail, usually see him at the shows or pop by as he is fairly local to us. However I do know he does regualry work away from home, and may therefore may not be able to pick up e-mails so be patient. |
Thanks for the replies all, looking at the prices I think my best bet is this other site I found; http://www.wickstore.com/Departments...tern-Wick.aspx
Hope the P&P isn't too much however.... |
