Injector nuts and tails,
I need a set for a 1/2" Pemberthy injector if anyone has a spare set?
Thanks Colin |
If you made some for a 3/4" injector then you might have a market for them !

You can buy new ones from Tyco, the nuts still want half a days work on the milling machine, and they are expensive. I'm affraid I've just let my set go (I'm on Premiers). Someone once told me that the nuts for 22mm metric copper pipe compression fittings fit 1/2 Penberthy's, though I have never tried them. |
We got a set for our 1/2" Penburthy from Preston Services a while back, wern't too badly priced from what i can remember, just wanted polishing when they arrived. This picture sort of shows them, before i polished them:

I found the standard domestic radiator connector fittings done the job very well once the crome had been removed

Ive got a set here that came with my new injector that im willing to part with if your interested ????

I had some from Preston Services, good finish and priced quite well I remember

Thanks James,
I will try that, good call. BTW, did you notice how much your slide valve was open at eatch end on TDC? It would be good to set the Ruston the same, |

Check the threads are BSP not NPT which is standard for the US market. Have you asked us for a price for a set? Can do. SG |

I appreciate what you say may be correct for the new ones you sell, but I have never seen an 'old' Penberthy or Penberthy Copy that has BSP threads on the important connections The threads on the body are always the same, that is a version of NPT as you mention. This is true of injectors sourced in the UK or from the Americas. The tails that differ, american sourced injectors have NPT male threaded tails, old britsh sourced ones have BSP male threaded tails. I have also noticed that the overflow female thread is BSP on 'old' British sourced injectors, NPT on 'Old' American sourced ones Similarly when I have sourced new Penberthy's via Tyco, you order BSP tails to suit british pipework. And you get a BSP overflow. The tail nuts are always NPT. This is the best way, it means when you put a new injector on the old pipework they are a simple like for like swap, and the 'new' tails and nuts end up as spares. |
