3" Marshall S Type Traction Engine

For Sale:

Part built 3" Scale Marshall S Type Traction Engine. Approx 50% complete. It is based on LSM's design for the piston valve single traction engine (spoked flywheel) attractive model.

Work to date comprises:

Wheels fully constructed and well built,
Shafts machined with drive plate and wheel retainers etc
Hornplates and spectacle plates made and assembled with bearing housings and bushes
Front axle and spud pan made with retainers on axle etc
Gears cut - require centres for some although flame cut parts are there
machined crank
flywheel
steering wheel
assorted motion
tender majority made, would benefit from a tidy up/reassemble
some material for a copper boiler
various smaller components

Engine currently sub-assembled, so relatively complete back end! (looks like a traction engine)

A lot of the harder work has been done on this model. With a commercially built boiler, this could be finished relatively quickly on very modest workshop equipment as the large diameters have been done and will make in to a very attractive quite rare model that will make you stand out on the rally field.

The drawings and castings are all available from LSM. LSM offer extensive castings for all sorts of components that could alternatively be fabricated (in my opinion) this therefore gives the builder the option of a slightly higher cost, but ease of speed and manufacture or a much cheaper route of fabricating.

A finished version of this engine recently sold for 8k. I estimated I would have needed to spend about 1.5k on castings and similar on a professional steel boiler to complete this model. Therefore there is a LOT of profit or value for money in this project I am just not in a position to finish this at this time!

I am offering the engine at £1000.

If interested please PM me or email me at tom.attwood@gmail.com and I can provide photos.

Thanks
