Lathe. Dean Smith and Grace.

I bought this lathe a few weeks ago for one reason - the steel 4 jaw chuck.
The machine is a 1709 x 40" bed which means it will swing 17" diameter over the bed, 9" over the saddle, and 40" between centres. It is a 1977 built machine.

It needs a good clean BUT it is the basis of an excellent machine.
I bought it without seeing it or running it.

I now have two options:

1. Spend time cleaning it and tarting it up ready to sell at a good price.
or
2. Sell it now at a reduced price which saves the buyer money and me time in which case I will be looking for around £2750.

Despite keeping the original 4 jaw chuck the machine will have the near new Pratt Burnerd 14" one that came with my own DSG I bought a few months ago.
It will also have a 12" 3 jaw chuck. The lathe has taper turning fitted and a power drilling attachment.

There are no steadies.

If you might be interested drop me a PM and we can negotiate a way forward.
It weighs about 4 1/2 tons and is located in Cardiff within easy reach of a lorry crane.

As it stands I am looking for around £2500.

Cheers Carl

Sorry for the contradiction on price - the last line should have read £2750 as well.

The bed is very clean, free from bumps and dents, with only a few minor scores - typical of use.

The paintwork is not as good as the pictures may suggest - it seems to have been softened/attacked with the coolant that has been used.

Although not shown in the pictures, there is a 12" 3 jaw and a 14" 4 jaw with the machine. There is also the saddle mounted power drilling attachment which isn't clear from the pictures.

DRO scales are filtted (Anilam) to both axes but the is no readout box - I am sure though that one could be purchased and directly connected to the scales

Cheers Carl.
