The President returns to Bressingham
Bressingham held a special event over the weekend to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, the star attraction being the return of Burrell 2789, The President which was of course owned by the museum for many years before it's sale and overhaul a number of years ago:

Is it just me or has Mike repainted / polished / re-lined The President?
Sure looks mighty shiny and the lining on the wheels looks different, maybe it's just been awhile since I last saw it in person (he needs to bring more of his engines down to Kemble or Dorset :P) |

There was some squad polishing both The President and Goliath at Castle Fraser, each morning.

I caught the lagging of the Horses Friend with the front wheel when John took it to Kemble. I was absoloutly gutted about it as it made a real mess of the paint. By the next rally out John had got Bob to it, who had touched in the paint, and revarnished the front section of cladding. Other than looking a little more shiny than the rest of the engine you would never had known what I had done. Three or four events later the shine had dulled a bit and it was completely un-noticeable. |

I wouldnt be at all suprised if it was actually older than me. |
Apologies, thought you referring to President, subject of the thread....

As far as I know, Goliath was painted by Alan Painter for Frank Lythgoe. Looking at it at Castle Fraser it has been touched up in places, some of it looks new- particularly the normal areas of black, smokebox, chimney firebox sides. The rest looks well cared for and has a nice patina to it. Surely testament to a good job in the first place?
