Aveling and Porter GND Governors

Looking for some governors for our GND showman tractor, year 1914 not sure if NHP is relevant as I believe they are all the same rating (4 NHP).
Any information, castings, patterns whole unit, drawings, replica's etc, that could be even loaned would very much be appreciated and looked after.

Access to any of the above mentioned, specifically patterns and drawings would enable me to produce some working replica's 1 or 2 sets is a possability

Any help very gratefully received kind regards

I do have drawings.
I started making a set for mine some years ago, but have not completed them yet - always something else to do!!
I am more than willing to copy them for you of you would like.

I think father still has the adaptor made to fit a set of pickering governors to a GND. The pickerings are now on the Marshall.

Would you be interested in that?

Governors

I have a copy of a Burrell drawing detailing all the parts for a standard ` Pickering` type governor .

I would appear that Burrells fitted the same governor on all their engines - Tractors thro` to the large Road Locos - certainly the later engines.

If this is any use to you I can let you have some overall dimensions initially.

I expect you know that the genuine Pickering governors where made in the US , but I guess they were copied by various manufacturers over here .

Mark,

The Aveling GND tractors were designed to have the old fashioned type 'swinging bollock' governors, I think from memory the valve fits horizontally into the cylinder just above the flywheels side trunk guide.

The adaptor father had, is to fit a Pickering. It had the ports you'd expect under a vertical Pickering, but then a pipe within a pipe and a flange that bolts onto the cylinder. Quite how the two pipes were sealed in the cylinder remains a mystery to be, butthen I havn't seen inside the cylinder.

Thanks for your reply's so far I'm really after as Brass Cleaner said the "swinging Bollocks" type typically fitted to the GND, but as I Said offers and replies appreciated and considered.
