Fordingbridge Steam Fest
Made a last minute decision to attend - tons of potential but definitely has a long way to go, before it can 'replace' the Great Dorset Steam Fair, in every respect. My best friend and I may have been better off going to Fawley Hill, but oh well, everyday's a learning curve.

Fordingbridge and Fawley Hill
I haven't seen your video yet - I'm away from home, but from what I have seen from Paul Gilbey's visit to FH that may not be the case!
|
Thanks for the heads-up, Roy. Yeah, even when I saw Paul's report, I was so shocked to see that Fawley Hill ALSO had such a low turnout. For some unknown reason, I was assuming that FH was going to do a 'Wellend' (more engines than usual)

You play about with new or moved events over August Bank Holiday weekend at your peril I think.
|
That's likely to be the situation, normally I'm good at choosing the right ones. Looking back on previous years (before Covid 19 hit), I'd normally do somwhere between 3 to 5 Steam Rallies per year and see at least 300 engines (excluding repeats) in total. However, I've already got the gist of which events to proritise and which ones not to bother with for next year

I meant playing about from the organisational point of view but I see your point too. If the footfall in the video of Fordingbridge is typical of the whole show I fear some more souls will be older but wiser today.
