EATES Road Run 15th June 2019
The East Anglian Traction Engine Society held a 20 mile road run round North Essex, starting from the East Anglian Railway Museum at Wakes Colne. The route took in Fordham, Bures, Pebmarsh and Earles Colne before returning to the museum. As usual the photos are carefully selected as being the ones that happened to come out best! I think I've included everyone, but my apologies to anyone who's been left out!
First up, Aveling & Porter no. 12136 of 1928 leaving the museum. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54432 With apologies to the owner/driver/roll walker - "Don't try this in big wheel". https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54433 No. 12136 again, from the 'peak' overlooking the 'plains' of North Essex. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54434 Garrett no. 34936 of 1924, 'Agathis'. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54435 Agathis is notable for being wood fired, resulting in definitely the cleanest footplate on the run. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54437 Agathis on the railway bridge on the return to the museum. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54436 Foden tractor 14078 of 1932. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54438 Fowler conversion no. 21221 of 1937, 'Forest Queen' in less picturesque surroundings. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54439 Garrett no. 33829 of 1920, 'Empress'. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54440 The only Burrell, no. 3433 of 1912, 'Peter Pan', notable for being single manned. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54441 Peter Pan again. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54442 Fowler road loco no. 15467 of 1920, 'Sir Douglas', leaving the museum. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54443 Sir Douglas in Bures. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54444 And returning to the museum. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=54445 "There's a steam roller in the garden". Splendid work, Glen.
Everyone looked as though they thoroughly enjoyed it, with plenty of variety and some decent weather! Anything else planned for this or next year? Cheers, FB. |
Great event Glen. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. And the East Anglian Railway museum were so welcoming. Such a fanastic place to visit. Lots to see and do, young and old.
Thanks for sharing the pictures Bill. Please share anymore you have. Always nice to see them, whatever the quality. |
Thanks Matt. Nice to have some encouragement. I'll sort out some more pictures tomorrow.
